Violence against Women

Wednesday, November 19, 2008

"Violence against women" is perhaps the most shameful Human Right violation and perhaps the most pervasive

United Nations declaration on the elimination of violence against women adopted by the General Assembly in its resolution 48 / 104 on December 1993.

CDEC India focuses on the impact of violence on the lives of women at various socio-economic levels and how to deal with it to make the world a better place for them to live in.

In India, violence against women starts even before her birth and continues till her death; the cruelty takes different forms from female foeticide to abandoning of aged women and this sex bias has hardly any discrimination of caste, creed or economic status. Young bride faces death due to dowry demands and divorce of the wife when she cannot produce a male child are common in this country.

To realise these objectives, CDEC India conducts workshops and seminars and produces video’s for the public and authorities.
