More and more people are becoming the victims of Human Rights violations. They are the victims of their situations that they are not their fault and they are being either only want or consciously used by the opposing parties. Especially children, women and the aged persons resistance is being crushed more violently. CDEC India actively campaigns for the protection of Human Rights and helps the victims of violence against children, women and the aged persons.
Resources and Facilities
CDEC India has a library which has a collection of books mainly in Tamil and English on the various topics like social issues, global data on Human Rights, research and awareness journals, news clippings, magazines and video tapes. It is free and it does not collect any membership fee for reading.
CDEC India helps the researches and the other non-profit organisations who are undertaking the projects on violence against children, women and the aged persons.
Activities
1. Creating awareness and organising seminars, workshops and training programmes for different NGO's and the relevant authorities
2.Reaching the public with its speakers bureau, annual conferences, special events and out reach materials
3.Helping the NGO's based on their needs in the specific area of violence against the women and the aged persons
4. Conducting researches on the psychological and physical impact of violent crime on victims communities
5.Developing course materials and videos on violence against children, women and the aged persons
6.Encouraging the participation of women in issues relating to security, conflict resolution and piece building and motivating the children in campaign for Human Rights
7.Proposing to give awards to the persons who exhibit extraordinary commitment in reducing the violence in their area of work
8.Conducting a legal education programme for slum and rural women
CDEC India assisted Prof Richard Brreyer of Syracuse university, New York for the production of the documentary film "Kasturi" - an young Indian actress.
CDEC India produced a documentary film "Enemy Within Us" on violence against women in India with the help of HOSO Bunka Foundation, Tokyo, Japan in the year 1997. This film was screened in Amnesty International Film Festival, Amsterdam, Netherlands.
